Student Veterans of America |
SVA is a 501(c)(3) coalition of student veterans groups on college campuses across the globe. These member chapters are the "boots on the ground” that help veterans reintegrate into campus life and succeed academically. Each chapter must be an officially recognized student group by their university or college and provide a peer-to-peer network for veterans who are attending the school. Additionally, chapters often coordinate campus activities, provide pre-professional networking, and generally provide a touchstone for student veterans in higher education. The Student Veterans Organization at Northeastern University was recognized for their dedication and leadership within the veteran community by being named Chapter of the Year at the 2013 Student Veterans of America National Conference. While all of our 750 plus chapters across the country are tireless advocates on their campuses, the activities of this SVO stood out. The group’s list of accomplishments is impressive. They helped establish a Veterans Resource Center, founded an Educational Outreach Program to bring the civilian and military communities together on campus, created a website, established a school books stipend to supplement the Post-9/11 GI Bill, and raised approximately $20,000 to veteran related charities. Congratulations to the SVA chapter at Northeastern University for their fine work.
